Hello Robina Families,

Whew! What a week filled with all kinds of EXTRA! This post is filled with lots of pictures and information. Enjoy the read! This upcoming week is Education Week (more information further below in the post) and there is lots planned to celebrate our journey in Education. Parents are always welcome to join us for any of the special events.

Our assembly this week was extra special as we had all of the grade two's presenting. 2A & 2B presented some very creative movie trailers on Cooperation and 2C & 2D did a great job presenting a truth and honesty song that had a really catchy beat. You can check out the agenda here and click on the links for the song and the movie trailers: https://goo.gl/E8fRXA

Weekly Update: April 14, 2018

Hello Robina Families,

Wow, what a week! We were immersed in the Arts and there were so many opportunities to enhance our culture. The staff and students outdid themselves with all the beautiful art and displays that were placed around our school. It was like teaching in a culture rich art gallery. Our kinders went to WEM sea life caverns for some hands on learning and our track students headed to the Butterdome for Klondike Relays. What was truly amazing was the focused learning that was happening everywhere in between all of the events. One of our boys floor hockey teams was at a tournament in Leduc this past weekend and the other team plays in Beaumont this

Assembly Update:

We are continuing our theme trust, honesty and integrity. Students listened to stories and participated in some interesting scenario questions in the small assemblies during the week. Friday's assembly was dedicated to the RBES Arts performance which was just beautiful. All of the grades presented something and we heard songs, watched dances, listened to hand bells and saw a teaser for the grade 4 drama production.

SPELL-A-THON UPDATE!

We would like to send out a big thank you to everyone who participated in the RBES Annual Spell-a-thon. As you might have seen in the paper, it was a huge success. Thank you to Dairy Queen, IGA and Tim Horton's for your sponsorship this year -- it was very much appreciated. There were also a number of local business who provided prizes or gift cards and we would like to thank you for your support as well. Our students were very excited to spell their words to win prizes. Congratulations to Mrs. Waters pm class and Mrs. Forchuk/Mrs. Tewitz's class for tying in getting the most 100% in the school. 1A (Mrs. Dupont's class) wins the top fundraiser prize again and they got to celebrate with a pizza party. Our RBES community raised just over $14,000 with this event and that will go a long way to supporting health and wellness programs at RBES.

Weekly Update: March 18, 2018

Hello Robina Families,

I would like to send out a big Thank You to everyone who attended our Student Led Conferences! The students sure do love showing off what they are learning to their parents and we appreciate your support in coming out!

I hope you all enjoyed St. Patrick's Day! Our students sure did. The activities and projects were varied throughout the school. Some mischievous leprechaun's turned some classrooms upside down, students wrote leprechaun stories, read St. Patrick's day books, hunted for gold, built leprechaun traps and dressed in green.

ASSEMBLY UPDATE:

The students are continuing the theme of cooperation for the month of March. Our grade 3s and 4s are working on a digital project -- they need to create a rap, song or a poem on cooperation. We had a special outdoor assembly where we had a choice of practicing cooperation on the playground or in cross grade soccer games.

Our grade 1s and 2s also got to listen to Mr. Coffin read a highly entertaining book called "47 Beavers on the Big Blue Sea".

Due to some scheduling conflicts we had to move around our assembly times this week and therefore did not have a student of the week or any draws.

SPELL-A-THON REMINDER!
Pledge sheets and money are due by Tuesday, March 20th at the end of the day. Celebration and prizes will be handed out on Thursday, March 22 at a 2:00 pm assembly.

PREKINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION:

You can register today online: http://www.blackgold.ca/parents/registration/

Don't forget to buy your tickets and come to our RBES Family Dance!! Put the date on your calendar! The grade 4s will be holding their annual cake walk and fundraiser for their year end trip. The cake walk will be held during the day at lunch hour and throughout the evening during the dance. For those new to the cake walk, it is kind of like musical chairs - but you win a cake by sitting in the lucky chair. It is a loonie per turn. Come join the fun!!

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED FOR THE DANCE!

We still need some volunteers to help out at the dance with set up, silent auction and concession!  If you can help volunteer at the dance - please sign up here: http://signup.com/go/oFGTcFN
