What a super fast and busy week this was. I want to send out a special THANK YOU to all of our Fundraising Committee parents for putting on and working a very successful family movie night last week. The event was well attended (150+ people) and fun was had by all. A special SHOUT OUT of Thanks also goes to Miss Betty, Mrs. Garlough, Mrs. Kaluza and Mrs. Milson for lending a helping hand and making sure things were good to go with the technology after I left. Last but not least I would like to thank Andrew Kaluza, Jared Wilhauk and Dillan Stewart -- You were all fantastic assistants in helping me get out all the mats and things set up for the movie night.
SPELLING BEE UPDATE
Way to Go Josh and Kaylee! You represented yourselves and our school really well at the BGRS spelling bee! So glad to hear you enjoyed the experience.
100th DAY OF SCHOOL
A number of our classrooms celebrated the 100th day of School on Thursday with various math and reading activities based around the 100s theme. Check out classroom blogs for additional photos, but here are a couple that caught my eye!
SCHOOL COUNCIL AND FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE UPDATE
Thank you to those dedicated parents that continue to donate their time to fundraise, organize events, attend monthly meetings and give feedback to our school. This year's hard working group of ladies continually support and come up with new ideas to fundraise extra funds for our school. This year their efforts and all of the families who support fundraising initiatives in our school have allowed our school to benefit from: 2 new classroom FM sound systems ($1,200 each), some new small chairs for our lower grades and provided for art budgets for each classroom at $100 per class. They also worked with the Legion to secure a donation that paid for one new projector in our school. We very much appreciate everything that our parents do for us. THANK YOU!!!!
ASSEMBLY
We are continuing to work on our Kindness (Anti-bullying) theme for the month. As a special culminating "treat" the students will be watching the movie "Ant Bully". They got a short teaser introduction this past Friday and next week on Friday, Feb. 26 they will watch the rest of the movie during assembly. Students have been invited to wear their PJs, bring a pillow or blanket if they choose and a stuffie. Teachers will be meeting during that time to do some professional learning. The movie will be done by morning recess and the learning day will continue as scheduled.
CONGRATULATIONS to this week's STUDENT OF THE WEEK winners!
CONGRATULATIONS to Lucas Boschman and Ryce Wagner - this week's Wristband Challenge winners. Keep on handing in those wristbands.
CAUGHT IN THE ACT!
Perhaps some of you are not aware of all the HATS a principal wears in a day . . . or in this case gloves. I unfortunately have spent a lot of time unplugging toilets and mopping up flooded bathroom floors this past week and Mrs. Tewitz "caught me in the act!" of heading to my next clean up job. LOL! We remind students all the time about using the "right" amount of toilet paper and not putting paper towel in the toilets. An extra reminder from home would be appreciated! :)
