Weekly Update: November 26, 2017

Hello Robina Families,

It was another busy week at school. Mr. Coffin and I had the opportunity to spend some time in all of the classrooms. We are so impressed with all the learning and hard work that happens in our building every single day. We had many students share their work or read to us. My two personal favourites of the week: watching some of the painting the grade twos were doing and watching 3B create in the drawing program on their chromebooks. There are some budding artists in our building!

LOST N' FOUND:

The lost and found is truly overflowing once again. Please send your child to have a look in the bin or feel free to drop by yourself.

ASSEMBLY UPDATE:

This week we continued our Nutrition Theme. We also had a special "Nutrition Presentation" from 1C & 1D. You can see more details about our assembly by having a look at this week's agenda: https://goo.gl/tre31d

CONGRATULATIONS!!! to OUR STUDENTS' OF THE WEEK:

Hot Lunch Has Started!

Thank-You for your patience in getting the RBES Hot Lunch Program up and running.  This is a service provided by the School Council and depends on volunteers.  If you are interested in helping out to ensure this program is available, please email HotLunchRBES@gmail.com

Hot Lunch will begin in DECEMBER!!  You can place your December orders immediately; December order deadline is DECEMBER 1st.

The Grade Threes kicked off our Christmas Elves Campaign during the Assembly!  Once again, we will be collecting toys and food for the Devon Christmas Elves. The donations need to be delivered to the Christmas Elves on December 8th so we are asking that all donations be brought to the school by December 7th.

This year our Christmas Concerts are later than the day that the Christmas Elves are delivering their hampers so there will be no donations accepted at the Christmas Concerts (December 18-20).  Please send your donations by December 7.

We have been in contact with the Christmas Elves and this is their food “wish list”.  These are just some of the needed food items but any food donation is greatly appreciated.

The class with the most donations will win a root beer float party!

Thank you so much for your support!

Weekly Update: November 19, 2017

Hello Robina Families,

Twas another great week at RBES! Our portable classes and Mrs. Suter's grade 2s finally got to move into their new home this week. The older students got to help with the move and between them, their teachers, Mr. Coffin, Mr. Tyler and myself, we were done in just under 2 hours. Each classroom took 30 minutes to move and everyone was so helpful -- was a true showing of school spirit. It is so lovely and spacious and the students and staff were super excited. There are still some minor things to complete, but for now the teachers and students are settled and learning was barely interrupted. Feel free to have a look when you are in the building! We are very proud of our new space. The old portables will be taken down shortly!

If you have been at the school, you might have noticed some new playground construction on the west side of the grounds. This is set to be open to the students some time early this coming week. It is very exciting to have a second play structure for our students to use. This will hopefully help to spread everyone out a bit more at recess time! Our RBES Parent Fundraiser Committee is also starting some ground work to add to this small structure and to replace our aging swing sets. This will definitely be a long term project with lots of fundraising required. Stay tuned for more information and opportunities to get involved!

ASSEMBLY UPDATE:

This week we continued our Nutrition Theme. The students were focused on making a balanced meal plan. You can see more details about our assembly by having a look at this week's agenda: https://goo.gl/2bqnWh

Weekly Update: November 13, 2017

Hello Robina Families,

What a wonderful week we had at Robina Baker Elementary School. It's been very busy around our "construction zone" as we are preparing to move our classes into the new wing shortly. Thank you to all the parents, teachers, and students for their continued patience as this project wraps up. Also, a huge thank you to Miss Betty,  Miss Pam, Mrs. Kloschinsky, and Mrs. Suter who were in several times over the weekend power cleaning so that we are able to get students in their seats sooner! It's often work like this that goes unrecognized, so THANK YOU!

SNEAK PEAK:

REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY

Even though things have been busy around the school, we took time on Friday to Remember. Students, teacher, parents, community members, and representatives from the Legion were in attendance for our special ceremony. We had a selection of poems read by Grade 4 students, as well as our entire Grade 4 class recited "In Flanders Fields". Four Grade 1 students (representing each class) laid a wreath of Remembrance at our Cenotaph and the entire school observed a moment of silence. A special thank you to Mr. Milson and Mr. Samuelson who gifted us with their musical abilities throughout the assembly.

Family Movie Night:

To conclude the week, Robina Baker was transformed into a movie theatre! The School Council welcomed several Robina families to watch Storks in our school gym. It was a comfy atmosphere filled with the smells of popcorn! Thank you to our School Council for hosting such a fun event!
