Weekly Update: October 23, 2015

Hello Robina Families,

I hope you all had an opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend. The fall days with the warm sunshine were absolutely gorgeous. This evening I was out finishing some errands and my husband and I ended up at Boston Pizza for supper. We ran into a Robina family and after a few great hugs -- "Thank you Jayla" -- I asked the family if they remembered to take their receipt to bring to school tomorrow. They hadn't and so it seemed to me that I needed to send out a reminder. If you eat at BOSTON PIZZA anywhere in the province of Alberta, save your receipt and bring it to school. We get back a cash donation from saved receipts. Thank you in advance for your support for this program. And yes I remembered to grab my receipt and the one off the table next to me that was left behind. :)

Below are the group photos and beneath them the links for individual photos for the last two assemblies.

School Photos went home this week.  The order deadline is Friday, October 30.  If your child missed photo day, or just had a bad hair day, photo retakes will be on Tuesday, November 17 in the morning.

Mrs. Becker farewell assembly. On Wednesday, October 28 we will be hosting a farewell assembly for Mrs. Becker at 2:30. All parents are welcome to attend!

We will be doing our annual Halloween parade on Friday, October 30 during our regular Friday morning assembly. So please have your child dressed for first thing in the morning.  We ask that no one brings weapons to school as part of their costume.  We would like you to consider the young ages of our student body and that some of the younger students still frighten very easily and become upset with the more gory choices in costumes.  Please refrain from overly scary and bloody costumes.

We will be having parent meetings on Wednesday, November 4.  We are using School Interviews website to book parent meetings.  If you do not have access to a computer you can come use our parent computer in the office. To book your meeting please go to our events page; under calendar on our website and follow the simple instructions: http://rbes.blackgold.ca/calendar/events/

Our “Monster” Book Fair runs November 2-4.  Hours: Monday at noon - 3:30. Tuesday: 8:30 - 3:30 and Wednesday: 8:30 am - 7:00 pm. Students have a scheduled time and can shop at lunch. Parents are welcome to come in anytime during the book fair hours.

Monday, November 2 is Twin Day!  Dress the same as two, three or as many friends as you can! Everyone showed amazing school spirit for our last dress up day - Time Warp! You can view those photos here. We absolutely loved everyone's creativity.

Remembrance Day Assembly will be on Tuesday, November 10 at 10:45. This is a formal dress up day. All students will be given a poppy on this day and we ask for a small silver donation if possible. Parents are invited to attend.

NO SCHOOL - November 11 (Remembrance Day), November 12 & 13: midterm break

Enjoy the week,

Weekly Update: October 9, 2015

Happy Thanksgiving Robina Families,

As I walked around the school this week and watched the various Thanksgiving activities going on around the school, I was reminded how thankful I am every day to work with children. They are all truly a blessing and each one is so very special! My job as a principal takes away a lot of my own family time (as do many of your jobs), however, I am extremely thankful to get to do something that I absolutely love to do every day. Thank you all for sharing your children with me!

Assembly this week:

Our respect theme will continue until the end of the month. This week our focus was on respect out on the playground and what that looks like. We also read a wonderful story about respecting our elders.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of our students of the week:

This week's wrist band challenge winner is:

To help keep our school safe, we had a fire drill this week.  Our students and staff did a great job following our emergency protocols from Hour-Zero.  If you have any questions about our school emergency program you can check out our website at http://rbes.blackgold.ca/parents/emergency-procedures/.

Weekly Update: October 2, 2015

Hello Robina Families,

This week the update will be fairly short. It was a week loaded with activities and with some of the changes in weather resulted in a number of students and staff being out sick for a few days. All of our students attended bus safety this week and our Cross Country team had its annual district meet. Congratulations to all of our RBES runners who did a fantastic job! The Cross Country team will be celebrated at an assembly when their season is finished. Mr. Henderson posts updates on FB after each meet.

ASSEMBLY

We continued to work on the character trait of RESPECT this week and on Friday we had a special presentation from the Bears club. Thank you to all the parents and special guests who came out to celebrate with the Students of the Week.

NEW LIBRARIAN!

We would like to send out a big warm RBES WELCOME to Mrs. Webb who will be starting as our new librarian on Monday, October 5.

PERMISSION FORMS

We need your help! Please get those permission forms and fees in for all field trips and extracurricular events in a timely manner. By leaving it to the morning of the trip it creates disappointment for students whose parents we can't get a hold of and chaos for the office staff. Thank you in advance for your help with this.
