Weekly Update: May 28, 2017

Hello Robina Families,

Whew!! Where is time going? It was a bittersweet week for us at RBES. We were lucky enough to have both Mr. Coffin and Mr. Larson for the week, but now Mr. Larson moves on to his duties for his new school. We will be able to have a few more opportunities to see Mr. Larson in the month of June before his time here is officially done. Mr. Coffin came in with a bang and was very quickly thrown in the RBES lifestyle and was welcomed with open arms.

The month of May comes to an end this week and we start a very busy new month with a burst of activity! We kick off June with our volunteer celebration on the 1st, the Black Gold Track Meet on June 6th, The Drama Production on June 12th and swimming also starts on June 12th!

This year has quickly flown by and if you don't want you to forget all of the memorable moments we had this year, then please order your yearbook this week!  We are happy to be adding pages to our yearbook - it will be 40 pages of colour photos for only $23!  Order your yearbook by June 1 on PowerSchool.

Assembly

We finished our Patience theme this past Friday. If you would like to check out our agenda for the day, please click here: https://goo.gl/d4D5iR Mr. Larson also did one of his famous camp songs for an activity break and the students all loudly sang along.

Congratulations to the Student's of the Week:

Ms. Coleman (our brilliant resident artist) - culminated the student art work done in her session on our "Wellness" afternoon into an amazing piece of artwork to hang in the school. The painting was unveiled at the assembly and all students in the photo painted one of the individual pieces that were then glued together to make this masterpiece.

Congratulations to our Prize Draw Winners!

BEEF JERKY PICK UP: MONDAY, MAY 15!

The Beef Jerky orders will be ready for pick up on Monday from 3 to 4 pm!   If you have 5 packages or more in your order please make arrangements for a pick up.  Smaller orders can be sent home with your child.

Thank you so much for your orders!  We will update you next week with how much we raised for the school.

Students participate in Bike Safety May 15-18.

Beginning Monday, May 15 our yearly Bike Safety Week kicks off during regular daily physical education classes.  Students will be participating in activities designed to promote the learning of the rules of the road and developing safe riding habits.
As culminating event the school will be setting up a “Bike Rodeo” at the Dale Fisher Arena on May 18 to give the students a fun way of demonstrating their safe and effective riding skills.
There are extra bicycles and helmets available to borrow from the school if needed.  Students who regularly commute to and from school using their bikes are encouraged to continue using the outdoor bike racks; those bringing in their bikes solely for the PE classes will be able to park their bikes within the school gym in areas designated for their grade levels.

Thank you to the Devon Bike Club for helping us with helmet safety and sizing!

Weekly Update: May 7, 2017

Hello Robina Families,

Education week was a big success! Each class got to hear a story from one member of the Lions Club. They also donated a book to each classroom and money to our library! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Each of our students also painted a rock to look like a fish and they are decorating our front rock area by the benches with a huge splash of color.

The classes all enjoyed indigenous games prepared by Mr. Larson and we had our Wellness afternoon which was a huge hit with the students. You can see our wellness and Hats On For Mental Health photos here:  https://goo.gl/zmfRlZ

Wednesday, May 10 – A Public Health Nurse will be here to do presentations about why we need to wear a helmet.

Friday, May 12 – The President of the Devon Bike Association (DBA)  is going to do a short presentation at the assembly focusing on bike safety. Mr. Hutchings is a retired RCMP officer and avid cyclist who has organized many large cycling events locally and provincially.    After the assembly, other members of the DBA are going check our student’s helmets for proper fit.  Please send your child’s helmet with them to school Friday, May 10.
