Weekly Update - September 25, 2016

Hello Robina Families,

We made it through our first full week! I am happy to now share the responsibility of this blog with Mrs. Horrocks. Between the two of us, we should really be able to ensure that there is a good balance of information and photos! Thanks for the help Mrs. Horrocks!!!

We were so fortunate to have the  Lord Strathcona Musical Ride perform for our school this week!   Each class had an opportunity to hear from one of the soldiers and to meet the horses.  Our entire school and many people from the community enjoyed the performance on our field!  It was so fun watching the outstanding skills of the rider and listening to the cheers of the kids.  At the end of the performance, the Captain invited everyone to come meet the horses and their riders.   Here are some photos and videos, but more will be available soon. Updated to add - Here is a link to a google folder with lots of videos and pics from the day including lots of pics of the students at the end when they all got to go up and meet the horses and soldiers.

Weekly Update: September 9, 2016

Hello Robina Families,

The new school year is off to a flying start! I would like to officially welcome our new staff members: Mrs. Porter who is teaching PK, Miss Starostecki (1C), Miss Coleman (2A) and Miss Potter (4B)!! They have all hit the ground running and are a fabulous addition to our Robina Baker family!

Our first Friday character education assembly was a great success. The former students quickly fell back into routine and our new grade 1s did a great job learning what our assemblies are all about. We had Constable Durling out to show a quick video on "Back to School Safety" and to introduce himself to our students. Constable Durling is our school liaison officer and we see him periodically throughout the year. Our first theme of the year is "RESPECT"! Here is a link to the Safety Video that we watched: https://goo.gl/uYkFKN We will be getting our "Student of the Week" program started on Friday, September 30. All parents are welcome to attend any of our assemblies.
