Weekly Update: May 14, 2017

Hello Robina Families,

We are almost halfway through May and schools seem to get busier with more and more activities happening in addition to all the learning and projects that are going on! Before the end of school we have bike safety week, swimming lessons and free swim times, track and field meet, boys floor hockey, class photos, volunteer celebration, farm safety, and many field trips!  You can find information on upcoming events on our activities page on our website: rbes.blackgold.ca/calendar/activities/

BEEF JERKY PICK UP: MONDAY, MAY 15!

The Beef Jerky orders will be ready for pick up on Monday from 3 to 4 pm!   If you have 5 packages or more in your order please make arrangements for a pick up.  Smaller orders can be sent home with your child.

Thank you so much for your orders!  We will update you next week with how much we raised for the school.

Students participate in Bike Safety May 15-18.

Beginning Monday, May 15 our yearly Bike Safety Week kicks off during regular daily physical education classes.  Students will be participating in activities designed to promote the learning of the rules of the road and developing safe riding habits.
As culminating event the school will be setting up a “Bike Rodeo” at the Dale Fisher Arena on May 18 to give the students a fun way of demonstrating their safe and effective riding skills.
There are extra bicycles and helmets available to borrow from the school if needed.  Students who regularly commute to and from school using their bikes are encouraged to continue using the outdoor bike racks; those bringing in their bikes solely for the PE classes will be able to park their bikes within the school gym in areas designated for their grade levels.

Thank you to the Devon Bike Club for helping us with helmet safety and sizing!

Celebrating Our Volunteers

We love our many volunteers and we would like to thank you with a volunteer Celebration on Thursday, June 1.  If you have volunteered at our school this year, please join us for an ice cream sundae and a special performance by our students! It doesn't matter if you come every day, sit on the school council, help with fundraising, helped on a field trip, tied skates or read in the classroom - we want to thank everyone who volunteers at our school!

Swimming permission forms are up online. Due to fundraising initiatives, lessons will cost $26. Students will be leveled according to their ability.

Details are available on our website: http://rbes.blackgold.ca/calendar/activities/

Permission Forms must be completed on PowerSchool by June 9, 2017
