Weekly Update: November 13, 2017

Hello Robina Families,

What a wonderful week we had at Robina Baker Elementary School. It's been very busy around our "construction zone" as we are preparing to move our classes into the new wing shortly. Thank you to all the parents, teachers, and students for their continued patience as this project wraps up. Also, a huge thank you to Miss Betty,  Miss Pam, Mrs. Kloschinsky, and Mrs. Suter who were in several times over the weekend power cleaning so that we are able to get students in their seats sooner! It's often work like this that goes unrecognized, so THANK YOU!

REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY

Even though things have been busy around the school, we took time on Friday to Remember. Students, teacher, parents, community members, and representatives from the Legion were in attendance for our special ceremony. We had a selection of poems read by Grade 4 students, as well as our entire Grade 4 class recited "In Flanders Fields". Four Grade 1 students (representing each class) laid a wreath of Remembrance at our Cenotaph and the entire school observed a moment of silence. A special thank you to Mr. Milson and Mr. Samuelson who gifted us with their musical abilities throughout the assembly.

Family Movie Night:

To conclude the week, Robina Baker was transformed into a movie theatre! The School Council welcomed several Robina families to watch Storks in our school gym. It was a comfy atmosphere filled with the smells of popcorn! Thank you to our School Council for hosting such a fun event!

MILK PROGRAM

Our milk program is ready to get underway!  Each morning, students with milk tickets will have the chance to order a milk for that day. At lunch, the Grade 4 Leadership Team will deliver milk to the students. Unfortunately, the milk program is not available for our half day ECS students.
For $16 students will receive 20 milk tickets.  You can purchase 20 white tickets or 20 chocolate tickets.  Once your tickets are paid they will be sent home with your child.
There are 2 ways you can use the milk tickets:
1. Cut them up and send them all back to the school in an envelope or baggie - they will be kept in your child’s reading bag.   It will be up to your child to say when they will be used.
2. You can send one back in your child’s reading bag on the days that you would like your child to have milk.
Tickets can be purchased online through your PowerSchool account.   If you have tickets left over from last year we will honour them.

EVACUATION DRILL:

This week we will be practicing our Evacuation Drill.
