Weekly Update: March 12, 2017

Hello Robina Families,

March seems to be flying by!  And although we are "springing" ahead with time this weekend, I am not exactly sure where "spring" is. Hopefully we are headed for warmer days, grass, sunshine and flowers very soon!

What a great Girls Floor Hockey Tournament this weekend! Our two Raptor Girls teams played their hearts out and both teams had some pretty exciting games and wins. Our B team ended up winning the Gold medal game of the tournament in a nail biting overtime finale! Our A team, pulled up their collective socks after a couple learning games and got in a couple of exciting wins. Great job Raptor GIRLS!

MUMPS AWARENESS:

All parents need to be aware that we have one confirmed case of Mumps in our school. Please check out the following link from AHS for more information: http://www.albertahealthservices.ca/info/Page15190.aspx
If your child presents with any of the included symptoms, please take them to the doctor right away and confirm a diagnosis.

STUDENT HEALTH:

Tis the season for cold, flu etc. A number of students have been coming to school really sick and we end up calling and sending them home or having them picked up. If your child is sick, please keep them home until they are well so that we can decrease the spread of germs in our school and work towards keeping everyone healthy. Thank you!

Next Year Classes!

We are already into planning for next year and need your help for us to project accurate numbers. Please fill out the following survey link to indicate if your children will be returning next year: https://goo.gl/forms/sEUnwNHyTW8LxP4x2

This survey is really important for us in pre-starting the staffing and planning process for the fall. We would love if all families could reply asap, but no later than Friday, March 10. We promise it will just take a minute. A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL FAMILIES WHO HAVE ALREADY FILLED THIS OUT! MUCH APPRECIATED!

STUDENT LED CONFERENCES

Student Led Conferences provide you with an opportunity to come into the school to see what your child has been working on in their class.  Student Led Conferences allow you to celebrate the progress your child has made since the beginning of the school year.  Students are excited and proud to lead you through activities and show you examples of their work.  Student Led Conferences are held as an Open House on Tuesday, March 14 from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.  Kindergarten teachers have also made themselves available on Monday night and other extra times and they will have information for you.  Please plan to spend up to 30 minutes in your child’s class to allow yourself time to complete the program set out by each teacher.

BOOK FAIR

Please join us at the Happy Camper Book Fair March 13th to the 15th.  Students will have time during the day to tour the Book Fair with their class.  You can send money with your child or you can take them in the evening when you are at the student led conference on Tuesday, March 14.

Please Help Us In The Parking Lot!

This is just a reminder that there is no parent parking in the staff parking lot! We have reserved spots for a few members who are in/out at various times of the day and they have not had parking available to them. Thank you for your help with this.

BOYS FLOOR HOCKEY PRACTICES

A number of grade 3/4 boys have signed up to be on the floor hockey team. Practices next week will be after school on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (March 13, 15 and 16) until 4:15 pm. The Wednesday date was originally on Tuesday, but due to Student Led conferences, this time has been moved to the Wednesday. Arrangements need to be made for bus students to be picked up. Thank you!
