Weekly Update - November 20, 2016

Hello Robina Families,

Wow November is flying by!  We are already planning Christmas activities. KINDER FAMILIES - there is a new Christmas concert date: Monday, December 5 at 6:30 pm. There is only the evening performance and not the afternoon. Both Robina and RMS did some shuffling to accommodate our families that have children in both schools which resulted in this change for us.

On another note, I will be speaking with all of the students tomorrow morning. Mrs. Stanski's mom passed away suddenly on Friday and we will have Mrs. Towne in until Mrs. Stanski is able to return. Due to the timing before the Christmas concert, there will be some changes in our programming. We will be talking with the students about those changes on Monday morning. Nothing will change on the parent side of things other than there will be no costumes required and students are just asked to dress in their Christmas finery.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS WEEK'S STUDENTS OF THE WEEK!!

MIND UP OPPORTUNITY:

MESSAGE FROM PARENT FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE:

Our parent fundraiser group is excited to announce that IGA has found a way to replace the "School is Cool" program. In the past, you could designate your IGA grocery shopping purchase to a local school and that school would receive a percentage back. That program ended last fall. Now you can purchase $50 or $100 gift cards using the following link to the form (a copy will also be sent home with each child) and Robina Baker will receive 8% back. We are very excited about this opportunity. Since the holidays are coming and we all need groceries, it would be wonderful if you used these gift cards to purchase your groceries and at the same time help our school out. The first round of gift cards to be purchased are due by November 30, 2016
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

If you have any questions about the program, you can email us at http://rbesfundraising@gmail.com

Attention parents!  There will be a draw held for each Christmas concert event at Robina Baker this year.  This prize is one of high value! For the first time ever, there will be comfy couches available at the Christmas concerts. These couches are a very comfortable option to the wooden benches or plastic chairs. They also will be placed right up front with a great view of the stage. And the winner of the draws for each of the concert performances will be allowed to decide who gets to sit on them!  We are very excited to have these couches up for raffle.  You will be the envy of the crowd and there are more than one set of grandparents who would be extra surprised to have such great seating! Tickets can be purchased using a form that will be coming home with the students this week. The lucky child of the winning family will get to call a parent/family member with Mrs. Kloschinsky the morning of the performance! Each chance in the draw will be a toonie. Buy one or buy many -- five lucky families will have the chance to win as this is available at both afternoon and evening performances at the Grade 1/2 or 3/4 concerts as well as at the evening only Kinder concert.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for your Christmas card orders. We will let you know when they are ready to go home. Thank you for your fruit and cookie dough orders - the pick up went great.  Thank you Grade 4s for all your work on that.

Thank you for ordering Fundscrip!  Great job Robina Baker - over $25,000 in gift cards were purchased creating almost $1000 in profit for the school! You can continue to purchase gift cards and they will be mailed to you directly! There are also quite a few E-cards that will be emailed to you - great for last minute Christmas gifts.

Weekly Update: October 28, 2016

Hello Robina Families,

Whew! We all made it through the excitement of Book Fair week, parent/teacher meetings, Christmas Card art and the pre-Halloween energy charged student sharing of costume ideas and party plans. It was so wonderful seeing many of you out this past week to meet with your child's teacher. If you missed a meeting time, you are of course welcome to book a meeting with any staff at any point during the year.

It was very nice to share all of the learning and exciting projects happening in our schools with the Black Gold School trustees and our Superintendent, Dr. Yanitski on Friday. A team of seven SWAT (Student Wellness Action Team) students were the tour guides for our special guests. They did an OUTSTANDING job! Here are a few favourite pictures from the visit.

Congratulations!!!

I would like to send out special Congratulations to four of our teaching staff who have reached new milestones in their BGRS career.

Mrs. Rothfos - 5 years of service with Black Gold
