Weekly Update: October 28, 2016

Hello Robina Families,

Whew! We all made it through the excitement of Book Fair week, parent/teacher meetings, Christmas Card art and the pre-Halloween energy charged student sharing of costume ideas and party plans. It was so wonderful seeing many of you out this past week to meet with your child's teacher. If you missed a meeting time, you are of course welcome to book a meeting with any staff at any point during the year.

It was very nice to share all of the learning and exciting projects happening in our schools with the Black Gold School trustees and our Superintendent, Dr. Yanitski on Friday. A team of seven SWAT (Student Wellness Action Team) students were the tour guides for our special guests. They did an OUTSTANDING job! Here are a few favourite pictures from the visit.

Congratulations!!!

I would like to send out special Congratulations to four of our teaching staff who have reached new milestones in their BGRS career.

Mrs. Rothfos - 5 years of service with Black Gold
Mr. Larson - 10 years of service with Black Gold
Mrs. Spreen - 20 years of service with Black Gold
Mrs. Suter - 20 years of service with Black Gold

Miss Starostecki and Mrs. Kuntz were inducted into the Alberta Teacher's Association (ATA). I would like to send out best wishes to them for a wonderful and long career. We are so fortunate to have their added talent along with Ms. Coleman, Ms. Potter and Mrs. Porter. Our new staff are a great fit in our RBES family and we are so lucky to have so many amazing teachers and support staff in this building!!

BOOK FAIR UPDATE:

Thank you so much to all the students, parents and staff who supported our recent book fair. It was a whopping success and we will have lots of new books for our students to take out in our library. Mrs. Raugust gave out 3 Family Prize packages. Three students won $25 in Book Fair product as did each of their classrooms. We missed one of our kinder winners in the photo below, but we did catch 2 of our kiddos with Mrs. Raugust and their chosen prizes.

MIND UP SESSION FOR PARENTS:

Mind Up is a program that we use throughout our school to help our students regulate their emotions. Black Gold is hosting a parent session in Leduc for all parents if you are interesting in learning more about what your children are using as a tool in helping with anxiety, grounding emotions and overall brain wellness and understanding.
