Hello Robina Families,
Whew! We have finished the first week of June! Before we know it the last day of school will be here! I learned so many great things while I was away at my CAP Conference in New Brunswick and then came home to do last minute prep as the District Track Meet Coordinator and haven't had much time to share much of anything. My biggest take away from the conference was realizing how lucky we are to live in Alberta. The level of poverty that I saw and the things that those administrators and teachers have to handle on top of everything else that educators already do was nothing short of amazing. We are truly blessed even with the downturn in our economy to have all that we do. Even when we don't have . . . we are surrounded by generosity. On that note, if there are any families who are having financial difficulties, please contact the office and we will do what we can to help you out. No child will miss out on an activity due to financial hardship.
This is the time of year that we start to finalize our plans for the fall. This year is no different than any other and will be filled with a few changes. Let's start with the staffing changes that we are aware of.
Congratulations to Mrs. Luciw who is retiring at the end of June. Her official ATA Retirement celebration was held this past weekend. Ms. Angell made a beautiful dedication speech to her and it was a truly wonderful event. We will all miss you Mrs. Luciw and we wish you nothing but the best in this next chapter in your life!
We will also be bidding farewell to Mr. Henderson and Ms. Angell. Both of them requested transfers to be closer to their families and have been successful in their bid. They are headed to two different Leduc schools. Mr. Henderson will become a part of the new school - West Haven - team and Ms. Angell is headed to Ecole Corinthia Park. Our loss is definitely Leduc's gain and we will miss them dearly.
Sadly, we will also be saying goodbye to Mrs. Webb. Due to personal reasons, she unfortunately has to resign as our librarian. We will certainly miss her laughter, crazy costumes and awesome reading voices as she shared stories with all of our students.
Change is never easy, but as some staff leave, we have the opportunity to welcome some new people as well to our Robina Baker family. We would like to give a huge welcome to: Miss Coleman, Mrs. Porter and Miss Potter. We have not yet had the opportunity to hire for our library position, but will keep you posted when we hear something.
Finally, I would like to send CONGRATULATIONS out to Mr. Larson. Mr. Larson will continue to work at RBES (as our assistant principal and a small teaching assignment), but only 70% of the time. The rest of the time, Mr. Larson will be the Black Gold Healthy Schools Champion. This position is something that he is passionate about and he will be able to share that passion with all 28 BGRS schools.
I will share the grade configuration and who will be teaching what in the next couple of weeks. We will of course be having a final farewell assembly for those who are moving on to new endeavours.
As for other changes, you will notice in the next few weeks that we will be receiving another portable. Our new portable is being relocated from New Humble and will be to the East of the existing portables. There will be a crew in shortly to cordon off the area that needs to be prepped and all students are to stay outside of that fenced area.
Well I think that is enough change for the moment and I shall move on with the regular portion of the weekly update.

DISTRICT TRACK AND FIELD MEET
Congratulations to the Raptors runners and coaches! Our team did an amazing job at the District Track & Field Meet! We were so happy that the weather was so great for us. We will be sharing results at the June 17th Assembly. Just click on the photo below or this link to see more pictures from the event. THANK YOU so much to all of our parent volunteers! We appreciated all of your help and the day would not be so successful without out the time that you gave!
RODEO OF SMILES
Some of our
students were invited to participate in the Rodeo of Smiles again! Children from the Black Gold Regional School
Division of Leduc and surrounding areas receive a personal invitation to spend
the day at a rodeo event organized especially for them. Rodeo of Smiles features a petting zoo,
mascots, games, face painting and so much more!
Rodeo of Smiles is sponsored by community businesses and volunteers and
would not be possible without their generosity.
Thank you for giving some of our kids a fun day! Click on the picture below or this link to
see more photos.
MILK AND HOT LUNCH
Throughout the year we have noticed a decline in hot lunch and milk orders. As we plan for next year, we would like to hear from our families to see if we should continue to provide these programs. Can you please take a moment to complete this quick survey:

If for some reason you get missed, but you have helped us out in anyway, please plan to join us. It doesn't matter how much or how little you have helped, we would like to show you our appreciation. If you helped out by volunteering as a supervisor for field trips or any school event, if you donated a cake for the raffle, if you help out in a classroom regularly or just once, if you help a teacher with prep, if you have worked in the library or come out for school council or fundraising committee . . . anything at all . . .
