Weekly Update: May 6, 2018

Hello Robina Families,

Education Week was filled with lots of great activities to enrich our curriculum. Learning is a journey was the theme of Education Week. We were so lucky to have a couple of author visits for some grade levels, our grade ones went to the library for an author visit, we had a Celtic performance by Kierah that was fantastic and had the students wanting to clap in time to here beat and our biggest event was participating in Hats On For Mental Health and having our own Wellness afternoon. It was really neat to hear some comments from the kids throughout our Wellness Activities -- we heard things like, "Wow, these smoothies look like they would not taste good, but they are delicious!" "I love being in the sunshine and playing outside!" "I don't even feel angry anymore" (after doing a yoga activity). It is so wonderful for students to learn and realize that there are so many things they can do for their own wellness and to figure out what works best for them. We will have part two of our wellness activities in June. Enjoy some of our pictures from this week below!

ASSEMBLIES:

Our theme this month is Patience. This is a tough skill for our kiddos to learn especially when they are waiting for something good or fun to happen.  Here is our assembly agenda from this past week: https://goo.gl/iYGZDX

Swimming runs from May 22 to June 1. Grade 1-4 will be participating in Red Cross Swim@School.  This program is designed for students to have an opportunity for fitness in the pool setting with a focus on improving swimming and water safety skills. The fee for this activity is $25. The fee set by the Devon Pool is $32.50 per student, however, money raised from the Spell-A-Thon has been used to reduce the costs for our families.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students will be enjoying a free swim at the pool for no charge.  They will not be participating in Bike Safety.

Group, Kinder & Grade 4 Grad Photos

On Tuesday, May 8 We will be having our class photos taken!  The Grade 4s and Kinders will be also having their "grad" photos taken. The Kinders who are not at the school on Tuesday will have their photos taken Wednesday, May 8.

Kinders will be wearing a traditional cap and gown.  The grade 4s are encouraged to bring with them something of importance to them.  For example, if you love soccer you can wear your jersey or bring your cleats and ball.

Next Year Planning

We do have a quick survey for all of our families that we want you to fill out as we want to know if you are planning on returning to Robina Baker or if you are moving out of town or to a different school in the Fall.   In order to assist us with our planning for next year, please click on this link and fill out the survey. Your timely response is critical for planning and staffing next year. If you already completed this survey - thank you so much!

If your child currently attends Robina Baker you do not have to register online for next year.  If you have a younger child that is old enough for Pre-School (4 years old by February) or Kindergarten (5 years old by February) then you can register now for school for next year!  If your child is moving on to Riverview Middle School their file will be transferred to that school at the end of June.

You Can Register For Pre-School or Kindergarten Now
